The Origins of BS 25999
BS 25999 began its life, as do many standards, as a 'Publicly Available Specification', or a PAS, in this case PAS56. This was published in the first quarter of 2003, to enable comment and feedback, as the basis for further development
It was very similar to what we see now within BS 25999-1, which was published at the end of 2006.
A significant number of parties were involved in the development of the standard, including the ACPO, the Cabinet Office, the BCI, the CFOA, Coventry University, the DTI, the Emergency Planning Association, the Federation of Small Businesses, the FSA, the Institute of Directors, the IEM, the IIA, Intellect, the Metropolitan Police, SIESO and Survive.
The second part of the standard was published at the end of 2007.
