The Business Continuity Management Standard: BS25999

Welcome to BS25999.BIZ, dedicated to the BS 25999 BCM (Business Continuity Management) Standard.

What is BS 25999?
BS 25999 is the new standard for Business Continuity Management. The first part of it was published late on 2006 by BSI (The British Standards Institute). The second part completed the series with publication late in 2007.

What Are Its Origins?
The first part of the standard was originally published as a 'Publicly Available Specification', known as PAS56, in 2003. This was part of the usual process of standard development, with this phase intended to enable a period of comment and feedback. PAS56 was withdrawn when BS 25999-1 was eventually published. Part 2 was published a year later.

Who Are BSI?
BSI, the British Standards Institute, are one of the largest standards organizations in the world, publishing over 2,000 standards each year and with clients in more than 100 countries.

What Happens Next?
The next significant development will be the emergence of a certification scheme. This will be developed and launched during 2008 (against the second part, which is the 'specification'). The usual training and support structures will be established as part of this process.

More Information?
Because events will continue to unfold as the standard becomes more widely adopted, we have created a specific news page. On site announcements will also be made on the front page of this site. However, if you wish to contact us regarding the site, consultancy or any aspect of the standard, please do so.
